Week 1's results on Dancing with the Stars

The DWTS Week 1 Results show aired last night and all I can say is: crud.

Yes, that’s disappointment you’re reading.  It was quickly decided that Margaret Cho and Michael Bolton were safe.  I think both dancers have a lot of potential and if they step up their game they could be serious competitors in the coming weeks.

Then my worst fears came true: Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino was declared safe (that was the ARRRRRGGGHHH heard ‘round the world) while David Hasselhoff and (shock! gasp!) Kyle Massey were in the bottom two.  Kyle gave one helluva performance meant almost nothing because like me most of America didn’t know who he was either.  That’s a shame, as I have a feeling that we might see some talented dancers leave the competition way earlier than they should because of popularity (but such is “reality” television).

David Hasselhoff's moves couldn't bring him back for another week.

David Hasselhoff's moves couldn't bring him back for another week.

After long and drawn out attempts at suspense it was announced that David Hasselhoff and his dance partner, Kym Johnson, were eliminated from the competition.  He left with typical Hoff humor, but I think this results show is a good indicator that no one is safe.  In the next few weeks everyone is really going to need to stay on their toes.

The most fun I had with the results show?  Watching the pros dance to Oye Como Va and hearing the lovely India Arie sing “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” with Carlos Santana.
