Although current US President Barack Obama is not known for his dancing (rather, is joked to be a less than stellar dancer), and has a wife, the First Lady, Michelle Obama who is better known for her moves; it just so happens that in the last week he has been featured doing a few different dances across the globe.

While on a tour through Cuba, President Obama enjoyed a a Major league baseball game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cuban national team. Although he wasn’t shown dancing during his recent stay in Cuba, if dance would have been a part of his cultural itinerary, he would have likely been invited to a traditional Afro-Cuban dance such as rumba, mambo, a folkloric dance, or a combination of the bunch as is seen in the video below.

President Obama then went onto visit Argentina, where he and the First Lady attended a State Dinner hosted by Argentine president Mauricio Macri at the Centro Cultural Kirchner on March 23rd, 2016. Since it had been almost 20 years since a U.S. president has made a formal state visit to the South American country, the hired entertainment, a pair of tango dancers, wanted to make sure that this would be a visit no one would soon forget. And such, immediately following their performance of a captivating Argentine tango dance as a couple, the female dancer approached Mr. Obama’s table, beckoning him to get up and dance with her. He seemed to repeatedly decline, however she insisted, not taking no for an answer, and somehow managed to finally make him stand up and fall into her arms! Although he was no Fred Astaire, he did catch on rather quickly, and was able to get through a quick dance without stepping all over the glamorously dressed, polished pro.
I can say that from personal experience, Tango is not a dance that most pick up so quickly, so the president held his own along with the seasoned professionals, while put on the spot!

President Obamas impromptu Tango dance at State dinner in Argentina

Barely one week later, while hosting the long standing traditional White House Easter Egg Roll, Pres. Obama along with First Lady Michelle briefly did the uber popular Whip/Nae-Nae dance (which was a viral sensation this past year), during a brief speech. Some of the invited special guests were Frozen singer Edina Menzel, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, a host of costumed characters, and teen sensation rapper Silento, who is the genius behind the popular “Whip/Nae Nae” song and dance. From out of nowhere president Obama and Michele both raised one hand to the crowd as they quickly motioned the infamous Whip/Nae Nae dance to thunderous applause. Not a bad way to kick off a memorable Easter celebration while keeping America moving both in good health and in good fun!
