What better way to spend part of your summer than learning something new that challenges your body, brain, and is a ton of fun? ATOMIC offers dance workshops in countless styles throughout the year, but what better time to start than during the hot summer months, where you can keep cool inside of the cool, refreshing studio.

August workshops start off on Saturday, August 6th, with a very special all levels Argentine tango workshop taught by resident instructors Joe Banks and Lauren Woods. Starting off with basic concepts such as connecting with your partner, and the all important embrace, the afternoon will continue following the complementary pizza lunch, with the latter half focusing on technique and key movements such as ochos and paradas.

Don’t have a partner? No problem! As with most ATOMIC workshops, no partner is necessary. Another plus is that it’s free. Yes, totally free! You can’t beat that and whether or a seasoned dancer or total beginner, this is a workshop that you definitely do not want to miss.

On August 16th, Peter Flahiff and Lauren Smith will be teaching an all levels lindy hop workshop with the theme: The art and science of social dancing. Described as a run down of the latest techniques and moves to help improve and sharpen ones dancing. They will also treat participants to a preview of some of their favorite combinations, styling, footwork and more.

Saturday, August 20th features a beginning salsa workshop with Pepe Gonzales, who will be concentrating on mambo pachanga style this time around. Starting with breaking down the basic mambo style step, then moving into cleaning up turns and spins, the last half of the workshop will put these all together with some basic combinations that might come in handy out on the social dance floor.

In addition to learning some new moves and key techniques that will help you take your dancing to the next level, you can do it all in comfort and style in ATOMIC’s well ventilated space. Not only is the air conditioner running at all times, but there are also well placed fans scattered about in each of the studios throughout the premises, for added comfort.

All workshops are from noon until 4 PM, unless otherwise noted. See ATOMIC website for information on class fees, updates, and anything else.
