Orange County is a mecca of social dancing, especially for Lindy Hop. We have thousands of dancers of all ages, lots of new people, ridiculously good live music, dance teams, and world class teachers. The one missing element is competition. To start warming up for those that are interested in competing, casually or more seriously, we are hosting a competition night.
We have a NOVICE Jack and Jill contest for 1st timers, an open Jack and Jill for those that are more experienced, and an open couples contest.
A Jack and Jill Contest is a "social dance" contest. You will dance to random songs with random partners. Jack and Jill contests are especially fun because you get to meet and dance with people you've never connected with before. Many famous partnerships have developed from that 1st dance in a Jack and Jill.
In our couples contest you get to choose your partner and the DJ will choose the music. This means the dancing is still completely or mostly improvised.
This event will be held at Top Cats is Placentia.
733 Dunn Way, Placentia, CA. 92870 (Dunn Way is a tiny cul-de-sac 1 block west of the 57 fwy off Orangethorpe)
Info
Entry fee for each additional contest is $5. Arrive early to ensure you have a chance to sign-up for the contests. In addition to cash prizes for Contest night we are offering event passes to Bayside Ball happening next Saturday in Santa Monica, and free passes to 3rd Saturday Swing happening the week after.
