This year at the Balboa Rendezvous; we of course have our familiar faces, welcome back some teachers from years past, and introduce some NEW FACES to the Balboa world. You can go to any number of Balboa events this year and see the same teachers SO why not treat yourself to something UNIQUE and join us for BR’10:
TEACHER HIGHLIGHTS:
Dan Guest (London, UK) & Sophie Yesberg (Perth, Australia)
We welcome Dan back after a few years away from BR. His passion for Balboa led to organizing the highly successful London Balboa Festival and teaching all over Europe.
Sophie is a new addition to the main teacher lineup and will inspire the followers with her fluid movement, dynamic styling and wonderful teaching skills.
Jason Herron & Andree-Anne Tremblay (Montreal, Canada) Jason & Andy run the Canadian Balboa Championships and are fierce competitors. Their classes and dancing are sure to inspire your Balboa dancing.
Steve Garrett & Heidi Salerno (Glendale, CA) Two of the current 'masters' of the dance. After learning and dancing in the LA area this team of amazing dancers are second to none when it comes to creativity and charisma on the dance floor.
Andy Spitz (Lyon, France) & Valerie Salstrom (Cleveland, OH) We welcome Andy back after a few years away from BR. In his absence, Andy has taught all over Europe and has organized many events. Partnering with Andy is Valerie Salstrom who runs the most popular Balboa event in the world: The original All Balboa Weekend. Valerie has taught Balboa all over the world and worked directly with Maxie Dorf to hone her craft.
Mickey Fortanasce & Kelly Arsenault (Montreal, Canada & San Francisco, CA) Simply the most sought after Balboa couple in the world. Their dancing has inspired hundreds of new Balboa dancers and they almost never leave the dance floor at any event. Constantly pushing the boundaries of the dance, they have recently worked a lot on 'performance' Balboa pieces.
Jeremy Otth & Laura Keat (Los Angeles, CA) You want old school, LA style Bal dancing – well, you got it with Jeremy & Laura... Jeremy is a true 'jitterbug' and partnering with Laura makes them one of the best Bal couples on the planet. Plus, they are two of the nicest people you will ever meet in the Swing dance community.
Max Pitruzella & Dominique Blouin (Montreal, Canada) Look out Balboa world! - here comes Max. This will be Max's teaching debut for Balboa – what happens when you take the most inspiring and creative Lindy Hopper on the globe and give him the Balboa bug – come and see... Who tamed that Lindy energy into an amazing Bal talent? None other than the amazing Dominique Blouin who constantly strives for followers to be showcased. Her styling and teaching are simply fantastic.
Marcus Koch & Barbl Kaufer (Munich, Germany) Without a doubt, two of the finest TEACHERS of dance in the world. Not only are they amazing Balboa dancers, but their attention to detail on HOW they teach makes for some of the best classes you can take.
Zack Richard & Maryse LeBeau (Montreal, Canada) A dynamic competitive couple with dazzling moves and technique to share with you. It is not often that these two make it out to the West Coast, so enjoy them while they are here.
Along with the amazing list of MAIN TEACHERS, the Balboa Rendezvous also offers something no other camp does: IN CLASS INSTRUCTORS. These fine Balboa dancers & teachers will be assisting on Saturday during the track classes to help students pinpoint their needs right there where they need it – in class. We are proud to welcome the following:
